I had to put the blog on temporary lock down. It is open again, but comments will be viewed by me before posted. Pornographic, defamatory comments will NOT be posted. I have also added a "gadget" to track computers that send this trash - which is a "federal offense to send obscenities" in any format. It's a shame that the rantings of a poor sport started the trash talk, then went on to add Amber Mylam. who posted as "a" and was "found out" because she bragged what she did on some one's FACEBOOK page. Also "found out" was "tthomas" who bragged on the same FACEBOOK page to Amber about "how evil they are"--Chelsea Wright Bishop. Note to the Amber's and Chelsea's of the world, there have been several news shows lately trying to make people understand that when you post on these sites, future job prospects DO look you up on the web sites - FACEBOOK included and people have lost their "dream job" because of something stupid they said on the Internet.
Although I have gone through and "deleted" the "a" and "tthomas" comments, I cut and pasted them so if they are "needed" at a later date for legal purposes, they are saved in many locations. I have also sent the comments and the names of the "posters" to the people in City Hall who were attacked by these 2.

Hey Gerry...this gives you time to paint up more sandwich signs....or er....PAINT YOUR HOUSE! In the time you took...in the energy you took....you could have made well needed improvements to your home. Instead, you wasted time, energy and $$$$$$$$$ on the likes of the sinister Jackie Thompson!!! You stepped into a battle that you took NO TIME to investigate and only chose to support Jackie because it was "different"!
You "chatted up" the children of Council Members Howard and Bailey and tried to humiliate them by sandwich signing your way across WYHS saying LIES about their Dads. You are not capable of an adult "conversation" and instead picked on the kids. Leave the kids alone NOW!!!!

Oddly enough, when Mr. Corvo of the SNP Whitehall News wrote the story “Backers of Issue 32 report raising $2,115 toward effort” 10/29/09, he did not see any interest in reporting the list of contributors that live outside of Whitehall who gave to Council Member LaCorte’s campaign. Only 3 out of 15 contributors live in Whitehall – LaCorte herself is included in the 3. LaCorte was her own biggest contributor at $700.00 while Tim Cooper of Westerville was second at $500.00.

Let me also note at this time, that SNP let the story of how Jackie Thompson claimed "Outsiders" were trying to get her voted out...aka Skip Teaford (my guy-Columbus) and The Committee For The Positive Future of Whitehall's Treasurer (Sandy DiCocco -Reynoldsburg) stay on-line for 2 weeks...but NEVER ONCE noted that Jackie's Treasurer when she got Elected was Maria VonVille of Columbus---AN OUTSIDER.

Your hold harmless statement "All personal messages express solely the sender's views and not those of Glazer's Wholesale Drug Company, Inc." does not relieve your company from the harm that may have been caused to me nor does It enhance the reputation of your company, which has it's distributorship on Poth Road in Whitehall. Surely you have a system in place to weed out emails such as this. Does Glazers Distributors of Ohio support her attacks and opinion? One can only wonder. I will appreciate a response from your company and would hope that in the future your company would not be implicated in Ms. Miller's attacks upon my good character. From her email I think you can deduce that things are very volatile in our city right now and threats have been made. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

So......I was going through the blog, council minutes, public records, the videos...you know - just checking the facts like any good journalist does. Any way....I saw in the minutes of Feb. 8, 2008 when I went to a Council Meeting for the first time since Jackie had been elected. I had gone previously many times, but none since she was sworn in. I made it perfectly clear that she has caused me enough trouble in the past with her harassment of citizens and them in turn calling my home to complain to her. I added that now that she was on Council, she needed to have the backbone to publish her phone number. I left directly after my statement. She said in the minutes of the meeting, that she had "NEVER" heard of me before and if I hadn't left, she would have gotten my address to send me a card. Right! Chris Rodriguez pointed out that all speakers have to give their name and address before speaking. Okay....so at last Tuesday's meeting, while she was slicing and dicing, she said that she first heard of me in 2001 when she was running against Chris Rodriguez and I wrote letters to the editor to tell people not to vote for her. Okay...let's "do the math"....2008 - 2001 is 7....count em SEVEN years that you LIED about JACKIE!! Oh...that's not it people...she told a resident while passing out her slew of "free" fliers (and I say "free" because she sure did not file financials for her "campaign" to stay seated, so they must have cost NOTHING at STAPLES...or for the postage for the 2200 she mailed out! And still no disclaimer on them!!)that "the MEN on Council have all voted to recall her". LIE LIE LIE Jackie...LIE! What the "vote" was- was as per the CHARTER rules, to set the date of the recall. That's it! No vote yet to boot her off council...THAT vote is November 3rd. Oh...and BTW, as you stay free from H1N1, remember to thank Jackie herself. According to "her", SHE is responsible for the Mayor following the CDC guidelines of alerting the public of any dangers. Ah come on Jackie!! Even YOU can't really expect that any citizen will fall for THAT line of CRAP! The CDC warned everyone last year that H1N1 would be back in full force this year....so don't even bother blowing your own horn on such rubbish Jackie!!!! So far Jackie, ALL that you've done for Whitehall is DAMAGE!!! Blood curdling, bone retching damage to any and all that have been in your way!!

As I tried to contain myself, I found myself so darn amused at watching her head virtually spin off her neck as she spew hatred through out the room! Jackie in her own little mind, has decided that I am a robot of the city. It seems "the city" brings me out whenever she leaves her house. LMAO! Jackie said that THE FIRST TIME she EVER heard of me was when she ran against Chris Rodriguez in 2001. Seriously Jackie?? Really?? I purchased my home on Maplewood in 1985. You dirtied my neighborhood when you purchased your house in 1989. The point?? Oh Jackie Jackie Jackie. You started your crap with the neighbors shortly after you moved in. The blue tarps drove you insane. (I don't think you ever really recovered!) My daughter was 9 when you moved in so in the spring/summer of 1990 is when I got "the HATE letter". I called the Whitehall police. I gave the letter to the detective. The local paper ran a story titled "The Tale of Two Thompsons" at my request so people would stop calling me to bitch at you! You say you did not receive a call from the police...well...you hardly remember what it is the vote is about, so I doubt you remember if a detective called on you or not. Especially since you have such a "selective" memory! Then you complain about being filmed since April!! Oh Jackie!! You just never ever "got it". The entire point of the video was to get you to curb your behavior. Nope! Not Jackie Thompson! No no...you just HAD to act out a life time of evil, conniving, lie filled hatred at the expense of any citizen that dared to cross you. What was different with me? Ms. Thompson your letter to the editor of SNP this past week was undoubtedly one of the most self centered pieces of trash that you have yet come up with. You parade your patriotism as if it were a license for your outrageous behavior. You speak as if you are the only person who has ever seen the horrors of war.
I grew up next to a veteran who was bound to a wheel chair …shrapnel in his spine…European Theater. The father of a friend was pinned under a tank and it was either lay there and die or cut his own leg off and live…North Africa. My own father was on a destroyer that was torpedoed and it was thought all hands had been lost at sea…Pacific Theater. My father was the recipient of the highest honor that the Navy can give…The Navy Cross
I too lost friends in Vietnam and am married to a Navy veteran (USS Forestall) who served during Vietnam. I have two sons currently serving our country. Our Marine is in Iraq and our Army solder is due to be deployed any day. And I have had a tri-fold casket flag placed in my hands and have heard the words…”A Grateful Nation Thanks You”…as a 21 gun salute is being fired and TAPS is being played..The self serving statements in your letter are a slap in the face to all veterans and their service to our country and to their families. What the VFW did was to simply perform a basic business transaction. And even if they had chosen to make a political statement by renting that room…each and every one of their members past, present and future have more than earned that right!!! They are the ones who have fought for our democratic rights!!!

Dog Trial Day

There is honestly no end to Council Member Jackie Thompson and her rude and narcissistic behavior!! Today was "Dog Court Day" for Jackie. It turned into a pre-trial day...but what a show it was! She entered the courtroom with the spoken attitude of "I am a Whitehall Council Member"! She said this to the city prosecutor and to the judge several times. She waved papers in the air spewing that she has proof that she was innocent of breaking the ordinance on the day she got the letter. Please note - she did NOT say she was innocent ...she said she was innocent "on that day"! She was rude to the Whitehall Special Prosecutor, she disrupted the courtroom arguing with him as he attempted to get her to step out of the room to discuss the case. This "stepping out of the room" is protocol as we witnessed it for the entire time we were there. Someone would enter the room, call a name, that person would follow, they would return and be seen by the judge. No no...not Whitehall's embarrassment! NO! We have to be "represented" by someone who made a mockery of the courtroom while boistering "Iam a member of Whitehall City Council!!" (WooWoo..look at me!!) Someone who waved papers in the air at the judge even as he continually told her that it was not the day to give her "evidence". To top it ALL off-- the Special Prosecutor for Whitehall - Mr. Kevin Mantel said "The City of Whitehall is NOT paying me enough to take HER abuse!"

She has the AUDACITY AND NERVE to say that the VFW Post should only rent out their hall to groups SHE finds acceptable! Listen Jackie-soldiers have fought and died for ALL of OUR rights to FREEDOM of SPEECH....NOT JUST FOR YOU TO STAND IN THE MIDDLE OF TOWN HALL AND LIE LIE LIE to the good citizens of Whitehall!! VFW should not take sides against supporter of soldiers
To the Editor:
A citizen called me and told me that the sponsors of the recall initiative against me were holding a fundraiser at the Whitehall VFW. This is troubling to me for several reasons.
First of all, it gives the impression that the VFW supports the recall. Secondly, this is very hurtful to me personally. My niece's father (and my friend), Craig Weber, was killed in Vietnam. My uncle. R.J. Claybaugh, flew bombers over Germany during WWII. My son and my brother were both submariners in the Navy.
My family has served and a member paid the ultimate price for his country. I have been to the Vietnam War Memorial and I have wept as I touched Craig's name and that of a school friend, Gary Leach. Craig's parents never stopped mourning and it shattered their lives. My niece was too young to remember her father and never had the opportunity to know him.
My whole adult life I have supported the soldiers and the veterans. I have written government officials letters in support of their issues. I have contributed to organizations that work to find and bring home those soldiers missing in action. I have stood with our soldiers and veterans always!
So I am disappointed in the VFW for giving credibility to my detractors and allowing this event to be held within the walls of an organization that is meant to represent and give comfort to all veterans and their families, not special interest groups with a political agenda.

Well well. After we alerted the press that Janiece was coming with WRITTEN proof that Council Member Thompson was WITHOUT doubt, ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY FACTUALLY the one who procured Janiece's firing, Council Member Thompson stayed home from the meeting. Um. I guess "the press" must have alerted her of the upcoming event and she just couldn't show her face in public. Not surprising. Who could face anyone who held THAT truth in their hand? Also, I brought the e-mails from Council Member Thompson to the school superintendent and to Chief Zitzke. She wrote to the school superintendent trying to get Van Gregg from running against Leslie LaCorte in the Ward 4 race for the council seat. YES! It's true. Council Member Thompson thinks so little of Leslie LaCorte's chances standing on her own, that she actually FACTUALLY - I HAVE THE E-MAIL tried to have Van Gregg pulled from the race by the superintendent. HOW? Well, the superintendent is his boss. Put it together any way you want to but it ALL ADDS UP THE SAME. Council Member Thompson tried to "NEGATIVELY AFFECT" Van Gregg's livelihood!! Ding Ding!! Where have we heard THAT before?? Ah yes! With Janiece Miller's experience AND from several other individuals. If Council Member Thompson doesn't like what you say or do.........SHE'LL GO AFTER YOUR JOB! FACT!
Also, I have e-mails from Council Member Thompson to the Chief of Police making a public records request for THE ENTIRE "murder/suicide" file! That's the very sad story of the murder/suicide of a Whitehall family earlier this year. THE ENTIRE FILE. Documents, photos, everything! FACT! Sick!!! Disgusting!!! How and Where did Council Member Thompson ever get her "God complex"? (God complex -A psychosis based in uncontrolled narcissism, inflated arrogance and a perceived need to subjugate and/or ridicule other individuals deemed to be inferior or unworthy.)

- Willful and blatant violation of Whitehall City Charter, Section 8 . . . “The Council shall have legislative powers only and not perform administrative duties”. Councilperson Thompson consistently involves herself in administrative processes of the City.
- Commission of Acts wholly beyond Councilperson Thompson’s official duties:
Procured the firing of a constituent from her job because the constituent spoke out against Councilperson Thompson’s legislation.
Unsuccessfully attempted the procurement of at least 4 other persons jobs
Attempted to negatively influence the administration of a local business where a taxpayer was working because the taxpayer spoke out against Councilperson Thompson’s legislation.
- Harassment of City Employees.
- Consistently disrupts City Council meetings.
- Placing the City of Whitehall in precarious legal positions by willfully and blatantly disregarding opinions and advice from the City Attorney.
- Nonfeasance – Failure to perform required duty.
On 08/04/2009, Councilperson Thompson willfully chose not to fulfill her duties as member of Whitehall City Council. She arrived tardy to a meeting and chose to sit in the audience rather than working with other city council members as they performed their legislative duties.
- Promotes a decidedly unfriendly atmosphere to hamper creation and expansion of new business development within the City of Whitehall.
- Promotes a decidedly unfriendly atmosphere to hamper home purchases and sales in the City of Whitehall causing negative effects on property values
Contrary to the multitude of attempts made by Council Member Thompson to “change the message” of the RECALL, it is NOT about pit bulls. This is merely a political ploy, last ditch effort on Council Member Thompson’s part to try to hoodwink the good citizens of Whitehall into believing her lies.
FACT- there is NO mention of any pets on the RECALL petition
FACT-the laws of Whitehall are ignored by Council Member Thompson when they do not “suit her needs”. She has an upcoming TRIAL BY JURY in Franklin County on Tuesday October 20. WHY? Because though the Whitehall Ordinance 505.13 permits NO MORE THAN 3 dogs, Council Member Thompson had 5 dogs registered in 2008 and 4 in 2009. That’s 2 years alone that she has been in violation of the law.
FACT- Council Member Thompson wanted to change this ordinance to benefit herself by suggesting that someone with lap dogs be allowed by weight of dog to equal someone’s Great Dane!

FACT- The “quote” used by Council Member Thompson regarding Dr. Mandi and HelpFido are in FACT an example of how Council Member Thompson twists words that she cuts and pastes to try to spin her way. This quote was in FACT from JULY 1, 2008 when Dr. Mandi was expressing the irony that Council Member Thompson wants to copy Bexley and Reynoldsburg in one moment but the moment before Council Member Thompson was saying that NO ONE BUT WHITEHALL RESIDENTS should have any say in what goes on in our city, and that everyone else is an “OUTSIDER”. Interesting how Council Member Thompson twisted THAT around.
FACT- Council Member Thompson tried to “negatively affect” Dr. Mandi’s livelihood by calling the animal clinic that employs her and stating that if they did not “do something” she would organize “her friends” to boycott the business.
FACT- Not only did Council Member Thompson OPPOSE the SCHOOL LEVY, she also wrote to the School Superintendent to “chastise” her for having a veterinarian speak at a school assembly to educate children on their pets…A YEAR AFTER THE ASSEMBLY!
FACT- Council Member Thompson attempted to overshadow President’s Day with “Darwin Day” and take away from the celebration of African American Heritage Month by naming it “Science Month”. When asked by Council if she knew what else was celebrated at that time, she said no.
--It’s this kind of negative behavior, continual circumvention of rules and law and the plethora of lies from Council Member Thompson that the good citizens of Whitehall are done with!

Tonight was the "Special Meeting" for Council to set the election date. We made it on the Nov. 3rd ballot. Unsurprisingly, Council Member LaCorte was noticeably agitated because she "did not realize" that Council had to vote to set the date. Ummmmmmmmmm........can we say read the Charter?? Next came Council Member Thompson asking for special counsel to be afforded to her because "people are asking for public records" and she just does not feel that Attorney Shannon has her best interest. Ummmmm.......yes, I requested Public Records. (She requested copies of the copies I requested) Oh My! Does that mean that Council Member Thompson has "something to hide"???
The Committee Meeting brought an interesting light to how Council Member Thompson feels about City Employees. Well.....if you need a prescription..........you'd better order JUST the generic. You should have to pay more for your benefits.....and BTW......if you're a union employee....Council Member Thompson does not want the contracts to gain at all.....she just wants the contracts to diminish. All of this while Council Member Thompson sat with her back to Auditor Ms. Maggard and Human Resources Dept. Head Ms. McNabb. Yes, Council Member Thompson sat facing the clock asking questions while Ms. Maggard and Ms. McNabb were behind her. Council Member Thompson did not want to turn to be on camera, so she chose to act as rude and disrespectful as one could!

Well after all of this time, Council Member Thompson has finally admitted to reading my blog! She actually quoted it. Well well well. The only problem is that while she "cross examined"
Attorney Shannon as to whether she "broke any laws" by getting her petition "early"...she failed to read what is written which is QUOTE"(Council Member Thompson went down to the board of elections Friday to "pay" for a copy of the petition...the cost of page copies. This is just another example of Council Member Thompson's continuation of circumventing the rules and regulations as designed in the Charter by not waiting for her certified copy as so stated she is required to do per the Charter.) ". This from Section 68 RECALL ELECTIONS from THE CHARTER....QUOTE "....shall promptly so certify it to Council, shall deliver a copy of such certificate to the officer whose removal is sought, and shall make a record of such delivery. If such officer shall not resign within five days after the day on which such delivery shall have been made, Council shall thereupon fix a day for holding a recall election, not less than thirty days nor more than sixty days after the date of such delivery, and shall cause notice of such recall election to be published on the same day of each week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper determined by Council to be of general circulation in the City.".........
It states in the Charter that the officer whose removal is sought (Council Member Thompson) ...a copy of the certificate shall be delivered. Again I say.....circumvention of RULES AND REGULATIONS....however NOT "laws" as seen in the video of Council Member Thompson's cross examination (as if she were in court!) of City Attorney Shannon.
As a lead in to this portion of the video titled "Circumventing, Again!", the Honorable Mayor Wolfe explained his position on the Spring Guide and Helpfido. Please take note that at the moment Mr. Mayor said that Helpfido more than likely will not go into the FALL guide, Council Member LaCorte clapped low to the desk and gave a "yeah!" Later, in the second video to post today titled "This is Why You Are on the Videos", Council Member LaCorte went on to say that she and Council Member Thompson were attacked by my blog because they "stood to protect citizens against vicious dogs". Wrong again. The reason you "are on the videos" is because Council Member LaCorte, you exhibit half of the worst behavior ever of a council person and the other half is exhibited by Council Member Thompson.

Board of Elections

I am told that the petition was taken to the board of elections for verification Friday early afternoon. What this means, is out of the 701 signatures collected, when the board verifies up to and including the first 403 that meet the registered voter of Whitehall and address qualification, then the petition will be certified back to the City Clerk. Upon receipt, she'll deliver a copy to Council Member Thompson and get a signed receipt. (Council Member Thompson went down to the board of elections Friday to "pay" for a copy of the petition...the cost of page copies. It's a mathematical equation plain and simple. Council Member Thompson came into Council office Thursday while I and some of the petition carriers turned in the petition. She whisked past us, turned and stood grinning in the center of the room. Other than attempted intimidation, those antics mean nothing. Not a single one of the petition carriers are afraid of Council Member Thompson. She breezed out of the room to insist from Council President Howard a list of the names of the petition carriers. Naturally he declined. Again, other than attempted intimidation, those antics mean nothing. Council Member Thompson was seen slowing down and stopping in front of a petition carrier's home this morning while looking at the carrier's house. The moment she knew she had been spotted, she drove off. Again, other than attempted intimidation, those antics mean nothing. Let me be perfectly clear when I say that to date and going forward , I have and will continue to keep the public informed of Council Member Thompson's antics and scare tactics. Donated 500 pounds of dog food to various Columbus residents that were in need
Provided Microchipping for 42 dogs at John Bishop park. This was not free but cost was only $10 which is a small fraction of cost a vet's office would charge.
Met with hundreds of dog owners at events such as National Night Out, Woofstock, Wagfest, etc and provided education materials on bite prevention, canine disease prevention, veterinary care and yes, breed specific legislation.
Participated in various fundraisers for other organizations such as Citizens for Humane Action, Measles Animal Haven, Capital Area Humane Society and Franklin County Dog Shelter. Examples of events - dog wash, pet walk, ride for pups (biking).

Could it be because supporters of HelpFido...people they have helped, think you're awful for contacting the Town & Country Animal Clinic where Dr. Mandi, a well known and loved veterinarian in Whitehall AND surrounding areas to tell them that Dr. Mandi had the audacity and nerve to speak against your proposed BSL at council meetings? Could it be that you attempted to start a boycott of the clinic because they wouldn't "do something" about Dr. Mandi??? This email is in regards to the preposterous things that are happening on our city council
again. The Dangerous Dog ordinance that was created by Bob Bailey was never intended to
continue to harass law abiding citizens.
The people that you are targeting with your "letters" is totally a waste of councils time
and money, not to mention the code enforcement office and police department. The city
already knows where all of these dogs are located. They are all legally licensed and
immunized!! The dangerous "pit bulls" that all of you seem to be afraid of are not on
that "list" They are owned by people that are not animal lovers and will not have their
dogs registered, let alone immunized. One day, all of your eyes will be completely wide
open, when something like what happened on Beechwood Rd.
last summer happens again, because believe me, one day it will happen, and it may not even
be a"pit bull". A few weeks ago, my 15 year old was chased by a neighbors chow. The dog
ran out into the street and almost bit him.
When the police were called, they said there was nothing they could do because the dog had
not bit anyone!! How ludicrous. Another neighbor was
walking her Bichon down Yearling Rd. A huge German Shepherd almost
attacked her and the small dog. Again, when the police were called, they told her they
could do nothing. In both cases, an officer was not even dispatched!! These types of
situations are what the dangerous dog ordinance was supposed to prevent. It is very
enlightening to see that Council, still after another year has passed is burying their
heads in the sand to the real issues in Whitehall. And lastly, what about HB 79? Why are
law abiding, hard working citizens with no criminal records being forced to spend money
that many of our citizens do not have because one council member wants to make a name for
herself? When this house bill passes, and I am very positive that it will, will the City
of Whitehall reimburse the hardworking, law abiding citizens for the money they are being
forced to spend? If the State of Ohio and Franklin County wanted to enforce their laws on
owners of "dangerous breeds", why wouldn't they require proof of insurance at the time
of licensing? The answer is
obvious, its a bunch of political horse manure! Just like Reynoldsburg,
they know that eventually, this law will be null and void, which in turn could lead to
potential lawsuits.
Last year, EVERYONE wanted Jackie Thompson off of City Council. Even as
we speak, there are many, many Whitehall residents who still feel the same.
Yet, no one wanted to hurt their chances of re election to do what needs to
be done. She is still here causing problems, now trying to take away our
second amendment right to bear arms!!!! What happened with the Meeks family was indeed a
very sad tragedy, but likely could not have been
stopped by anyone other than GOD himself. - I am all for more community
awareness on the subject of domestic violence, as no woman or child should have to live'
their lives in fear of anyone.
Now, the latest example of ridiculous and unacceptable behavior has come from Mr. Kantor.
I believe in innocence until proven guilty and I am quite sure there are extenuating
circumstances. I am not here to judge Mr. Kantor.
However, when you hold public office you are expected to hold
yourself to a higher standard. That is not being done here, especially with Ms.
Thompsons public outbursts and demands that he step down. Ms.
Thompson should not throw stones when she lives in a glass house! She is not the judge OR
The jury.
I and many others that live here in Whitehall, not to mention people outside the city are seeing a side of Whitehall that we never wanted to see. So long to living in "The City of Pride." How many stable families do you think this kind of negative publicity is going to attract? Not many, even with new schools.

RECOMMENDING THE ISSUE BE PLACED ON THE NOVEMBER 3, 2009 ELECTION BALLOT FOR THE CITY OF WHITEHALL FOR THE RESIDENTS TO VOTE ON WHETHER THE CITY OF WHITEHALL SHALL PROHIBIT THE HARBORING OF BREED SPECIFIC DOGS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, this Council, has engaged in detailed discussions for the last year regarding the harboring of dogs; and
WHEREAS, this Council has decided that the issue of whether or not the City of Whitehall should prohibit the harboring of breed specific dogs should be placed for an advisory election on the November 3, 2009 election ballot; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE WHITEHALL, OHIO:
SECTION 1: That the City of Whitehall shall file appropriate paperwork with the Franklin County Board of Elections which will allow for an advisory election on the issue to prohibit the harboring of breed specific dogs to be placed on the November 3, 2009 election ballot as follows:
1. Shall the City of Whitehall prohibit the harboring of a dog that has been involved in an incident in which it has been declared vicious by a Court of Law and/or the Dangerous and Vicious Dog Appeals Board of the City of Whitehall?
YES NO
2. Shall the City of Whitehall prohibit the harboring of:
A. American Pit Bull Terrier;
B. Staffordshire Bull Terrier;
C. American Staffordshire Terrier;
D. American Bulldog;
E. Any other pure bred or mixed breed dog whose appearance and physicalcharacteristics are dominantly those of any of the dogs listed above, or is acombination of any of the dogs listed above, even if the dog has not beeninvolved in an incident in which it has been declared to be a vicious dogby a Court of Law and/or the Dangerous and Vicious Dog Appeals Boardfor the City of Whitehall?

SECTION 2: That the ballot would provide that in the event the voters approve prohibiting the harboring of breed specific dogs, City Council could then enact legislation to enforce said prohibition effective January 1, 2010.

As Jackie reeled her head and screeched “Oh! Show it to me Bob! You’re sooooo good at waving papers in the air but not producing the proof!” Uutt-Oh! That sounds familiar! Why THAT is Jackie Thompson’s M.O. that she is accusing Bob Bailey of!!!!......What did Bob do? He simply turned to the page and read it to her! LOL!!! You just can’t make this stuff up!!

Well, heaven help us all if she wants you to go to the Jackie Thompson school of etiquette. And THEN….as rude as you all are….you’re calling her telling her how afraid you are to work in City Hall. You just never know who will come in! Well everybody duck if it’s Jackie because if she comes in, she’s on the rampage to do SOMEONE in! Okay….pop quiz….what is the jest of this paragraph? NEXT! Now serving Ray Ogden!!! Oh Jackie left no stone unturned here. She was in Ray’s office last week with her usual “grocery list” of questions, demands, “concerns”…mind you NOW she sits in a PUBLIC meeting, and announces to everyone that she…wait!...here it comes….GETS A LOT OF PHONE CALLS complaining about how rude Ray’s office is. Well, given the above mentioned paragraph…need I say more? So…Ray, intent on defending his people from Jackie’s accusations from………..the Code Enforcer sitting outside of people’s houses in his truck “stalking” them…..and Ray’s office being blatantly rude!!!....Well, Ray told Jackie how outrageous it was that she was JUST in his office and made no mention of her “concerns” then, but waited for the PUBLIC meeting to try to insult his office and his team. (Ah…Ray…that’s Jackie’s M.O. too– Be the DRAMA QUEEN and BACK STAB anyone and everyone!) So....Ray explained to Jackie that the Code Enforcer uses a laptop that is wireless hook-up to City Hall to do his reports. THUS, the “sitting” in the truck. Now Jackie….you really wouldn’t want him driving while he’s on the pc would you??? And Jackie, in her usual UN-professional manner…sat rocking in the chair laughing at Ray. Seriously Jackie??? Seriously???!!! Again Jackie…do you see the pattern here??? Administrative….NOT Legislative!

In a SHOCKING move, after two readings.....Jackie's BSL was voted down 5 to 2 with Jackie being the only vote FOR her legislation and Leslie "sustained....er.....obstained". Channel 4 news was "in the house"...watch live tonight @ 11pm and more than likely tomorrow morning for a recap. Jackie was on TV earlier tonight talking about "some pit bull organizations" that recommend you do not have children around these vicious animals. "Some Pit Bull Organizations" Jackie.....seriously??? Aren't THEY the "outsiders" you try to stay away from??!!! Come - On!!
WOW! Then....Jackie and Leslie both got plenty of "face time" on TV4 camera saying how ridiculous it all was and what a set up it was and what an embarrassment it all is!! ON TV??!! Seriously??!! You said it ALL on TV!!! Also...Leslie mentioned how she has totally hated past her year and a half on City Council...ending with how sad it is that the renters come to Council Meetings to speak and they don't even pay taxes!!! Ms. Maggard City Auditor corrected her on THAT mis-step and thanked the renters for ALL of the taxes they DO pay!!! Hate it do you Leslie?? Well she couldn't be too surprised then to hear the public telling her too to resign.

Prior to the beginning of the Committee Meeting this week was the open to the public TAX budget meeting. TAX budget. TAX. Nothing else...just just budget on the projected income and expense of 2010 taxes. TAX. TAX. I'm sure you all get it by now........not surprisingly.....Jackie could NOT grasp that it was just the TAX portion of the budget that was AS MANDATED BY THE COUNTY to be adopted on or before July 15. No no. Jackie wanted the ENTIRE budget. Jackie just does not "get" that there are rules and regulations for governments that dictate dates when certain portions of budgets and monetary reports are filed. No....we're back to the same OLD STORY....Jackieville. The budget went to a vote for passage...all but one voted for it..........YEP! Jackie..."NO!" Why??? Because it's her agenda.
Back to the backroom for the Committee Meeting. 10 pieces of draft legislation for assignment....yup....Jackie. She's read an article in some paper or magazine about everything discussed. 3 hours of grimacing, snickering, sneering and all in all very bad behavior by not only one but TWO council members. You guessed it! Jackie Thompson AND Leslie LaCorte! That's right Whitehall, the 2 women on council just can't behave professionally as City Council members. NOT ONCE, did any of the council men make faces, sigh, grimace or sneer at ANY citizen, but the "Dynamic Duo"...oh my!! The 2 females of council, just feel it their right to try to make faces so everyone in the world knows there stance on a speaker or topic. Seriously??!!

Well, you've heard and read the recap of Leslie's bad behavior, now here's a recap of Jackie, who I might add, sits back and enjoys "the show" every single time Leslie "goes off"!!!

Jackie during poll public was just simply devastated that people may have to give up one of their 4 dogs. Sad yes, but the point is...it's against the law and JACKIE KNOWS IT and KNEW IT BEFORE SHE HERSELF violated it REPEATEDLY!!!! Now the innocent citizens can thank Jackie for their plight! Not to worry! Jackie is going to "revisit" THAT law...why??? OH YES!! Because it will be SELF SERVING! ANOTHER JACKIE AGENDA!!!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY??!!
If THAT's not enough! In Poll Council (after 3 hours of faces and snickers between the dynamic duo), Jackie addresses "people" who are not only trying to UNSEAT council members....but DESTROY them! SERIOUSLY??!! Whoa Jackie! Has anyone called YOUR employer to get YOU fired?? Nope. Didn't think so. Destroy you?? No! THAT is what YOU do when you get a single mother fired from her job for disagreeing with you! YOU!! YOU!! YOU!! Destroy lives. If you take yourself down in the mix, SO BE IT!! You sure don't need my or anyone else's help on that and it's FAR TOO LATE to pretend to be a victim!
She then has THE NERVE to give her phone number because she's "here for the people"! Remember Janiece??....YEP! Jackie sure was THERE FOR HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!....PEOPLE!!!...all you have to do is call MY number, and listen to the answering machine...it's ALWAYS there! WHY give her phone number??? Well...for one thing, it was just passed thru the streets by an illegal "deposit" to mailboxes...but also....the telephone is not in written word...so no one has legal recourse against her! IF YOU CONTACT HER...........SEND AN E-MAIL! Makes for good "evidence" in a court of law. See the City of Whitehall website.
The City of Whitehall is an embarrassment for the world to see, because we have 2 council members who JUST CAN'T CONTROL THEIR BAD BEHAVIOR!!!! Jackie Thompson has been at it for years as a citizen now as council, never knowing proper manners in public or how to behave as a "neighbor". Now enter Leslie LaCorte who just doesn't seem to be happy unless the spotlight is on her!

Harassment? Seriously??!! Week after week you scowl, grimace, laugh, snicker and sneer directly into the camera all the while being told by fellow council that the camera was NOT ABOUT YOU. YOU Leslie are the one who made it about you. Not once at the beginning of my efforts to inform the Citizens of Whitehall what a loose cannon Jackie Thompson is, did you bother to ASK me what the history was. NOT ONCE!! You stand in City Hall parking lot screaming at the top of your lungs that Jackie Thompson is NOT your friend, but you sure didn’t bother to ask why so many people have issue with her! Your first rant in a council meeting was that I should get over the past. This is NOT the past, it is my past, my present and my future. You have no idea what anguish has come and continues to come to my home because people call my home looking to yell at her. These calls are never pleasant and I have to let the calls roll to the answering machine when I do not recognize the caller. YOU HAVE NO IDEA! Now you sit at Poll Council for “final words” while sneering down your nose at me – I QUOTE- “Look at her! She’s disgusting! Sitting there writing down everything I say! She makes me sick!” THAT’S HOW YOU TREAT A CITIZEN WHO COMES TO MEETINGS TO RECORD INJUSTICE?! SERIOUSLY??!! Is it because I do not live in WARD 4? You say you are not Jackie’s friend, but any time a council member disagrees with her – you come swooping in to save the day while professing AND I QUOTE – “We are not the two nags of council!” You said quote- “I am a good person and do not deserve to be harassed!” NO ONE…NO ONE, harassed you. Whitehall Councilwoman Jacquelyn Thompson surprised her fellow city council members tonight when she presented a proposal to ban pitbull dogs in the suburb, almost exactly a year after a similar law was rejected.
"I see no other alternative," Thompson said. "It's been almost a year and we're still having attacks. I just feel this city isn't safe."
The debate a year ago was one of the most controversial to come before the council in recent years.
Council members accepted Thompson's proposal in silence, passing the legislation around the table. It will be presented for a possible vote at a later date.
Councilwoman Leslie LaCorte, the only other member to support a ban last summer, said Thompson caught her off guard and she hopes it doesn't blow up into a divisive battle as it did last time.
Singling out breeds commonly referred to as pitbulls has been a hot topic around the nation, and the state House of Representatives is considering legislation that would nix the state law that automatically labels pitbulls as vicious.
Thompson's proposal last year riled some residents who said bad dogs come from bad owners, and a whole breed shouldn't be punished.
"My dogs aren't mean. They just weren't raised that way. Ms. Thompson is trying to make it a bigger issue than it is," resident Janiece Miller said.
Miller said she was fired from her accounting job this spring when Thompson complained to Miller's boss about an e-mail Miller had sent from work asking the council to quit harassing pitbull owners.
Residents have been filming Thompson during council meetings and criticizing her on a blog called Citizen Journalist, which endeavors to "alert all citizens of Whitehall, OH to the ridiculous and outrageous behavior of council member Jackie Thompson."
Thompson said she is standing up for residents who are nervous about confronting their neighbors about pitbulls.
The councilwoman said the compromise devised last July has not worked. It requires the owners of vicious dogs, which legally includes all pitbulls, to put up a 6-foot fence, neuter or spay the animal, implant an ID microchip and buy liability insurance.
City-code enforcement officials are still in the early phases of implementing the law, Service Director Ray Ogden said.
The city sent letters about the new law to 26 pitbull owners in April. Half of them have been cited for still not having tall enough fences as of May 15, he said. Since then the city has identified and warned the owners of five additional pets that had not been registered.

I dont live in whitehall however, I was attacked by a dog as a child and it was not a pitbull or any of the bully breeds. I was attacked by a german shepard. I dont see anyone posting laws about registering german shepards or rotts. These two breeds if you check statistics attack more people in a year than pitbulls do. I think pitbulls have gotten a bad rap due to the dog fighting rings. No dog is born vicious they are made that way by bad training. I have been around many pitbull dogs and none of them have ever raised a hair on me or even was the slightest bit aggressive towards one of my children. I think in these times and economics there are more important things city council members should be dealing with besides banning one breed of dog from an area or checking how high your neighbors fences are.

I have 2 pitbulls and they r not vicious cause I did not raise them to be. I think it is terribly wrong to ban animals because of their breed. I have been around a few bitbulls and they never were vicious towards me. My pitbulls are mixed with rottweiller so does that mean they can still get banned?

Once again Council woman Thompson is focusing on an issue that NEEDS NO FOCUS! She continues to cite problems that surface in other areas, not Whitehall. This council woman needs to focus on real issues instead of perpetuating her own agenda. Even if the city banned pit bulls, dog attacks would still occur. Even if the city banned all dogs, dog attacks would still occur. Even if the city banned dog attacks, dog attacks would still occur. Get the picture? The only thing will will minimize dog attacks of all breeds is to educate owners and enforce CURRENT laws. Council woman Thompson needs to focus on the BIG picture instead of her own agenda.

They should really just ban all dog "ownership" as it is offensive and degrading to the dogs. Dogs have rights too and should not be subjected to so-called "ownership" by (slave) masters.Banning specific breeds should be unconstitutional also, we can't ban Asian people from our cities so banning a breed of dog should not be allowed.

I personally think this lady is a bit out there.We can't see a ban on a breed when it's not the dog it's the idiot owners that are the problem. I qusetion judgement on pitbulls since you can adopt one at the Capital Area Humane Society and at Humane Societies all over Ohio yet the Franklin County Animal Shelter kills all pitbulls it takes in.Even our two animal control groups can't agree on this breed.

Maybe you have a point that it is the owners of pit bulls. Owners who have no regard for the law, arrogant, and place a breed above the life of people. Why own a known dangerous dog unless you feel superior doing so? Typical of those who want to play kissy face with a pit and brag about it. Only problem is you can't tell an owner of a pit (unless they open their mouth) but you can tell a pit. PREVENT THE DEED, REGULATE THE BREED.

can we just ban people who try to submit pit bull bans? The dogs themselves are not the problem, it's all in how the owners raise them. There's so much data out there proving that pitbulls, by breed alone, are not pre-determined to be a vicious dog. Why isn't she going after all the so-called vicious breeds, rottweilers, pits, german shepherds, dobermans, chows, etc...and I have always heard stories about little dogs being much more aggressive/biting. The ban was already rejected last year, why doesn't she get a clue? How about instead of a ban, they just do more to enforce laws against owners who are training their dogs to be mean and/or abusing them.

Also, you actually can't get a putbull at the humane society, I have friends who worked there...ok you can, but it's almost impossible; When they get a putbull in, they have to keep it in the back room, and they can only keep it for 1 day and then they have to put it down. If these were people it would be called racism. It's the same ignorant line of thought that believes a race is predetermined to commit more crimes, it's simply not true.

um, not real sure I understand where you're goin there knowledge is power...kissy face with a pit? my pit is actually very well-tempered, if you came over she'd be hyper for about 5 minutes then she'd flop over on her back so you can rub her belly for hours. It's not about owning a known dangerous dog, it's about society getting over this notion that a dog is bad or vicious based on it's breed. I rescued my pit from someone who was going to fight her. Pits also make very good guard dogs and are very good with small children. Do your homework people before you try and outright ban something.

i live in whitehall and have lot of problems like having to walk school children in front of a house a couple doors down also elderlys. because there are 2 pits and they are scared. they are not socialized what so ever. never walked also out in extreme heat and cold somthing needs done

What you are describing is an incompetent, or neglectful owner - Not a problem with the breed. I do not own a pit (due to the public perception associated with the breed). However I do know several people who do, and have never had a problem with a trained and socialized pit.

Pit bulls are the sweetest thing until they eat your child's face. How many times have you seen this story in the news? The owner says their pit was sweet and never agressive, and then it mangled their child out of the blue. That being said, adults should be able to make their own decision about whether or not they want to own one. The point you are all missing is that Whitehall pit owners are not complying with the compromise the city made (fence, microchip, insurance) The next step is a ban.

Way to discriminate Whitehall! What about the poodle by far the most violent dog breed? How about people? Will you require people with muscle to get a chip, put up a fence or require insurance? Discrimination is a horrible thing and that is what they are doing! Funny thing is if check into animal related injuries or fatalities these dogs are nowhere near the top of the list. Horses have hurt more people over the years than pitbulls. Pitbulls are not violent animals at all, they are the most caring breeds you will ever come across, and one of the only breeds that have the physical ability to smile. We need laws against ignorant people like Councilwoman Thompson, find something better to do with your time than attack these beautiful defenseless animals. You should be ashamed of your actions.

Deb you do realize that with almost all dog attacks, no matter the breed, the owners usually claim the dog was gentle and they never saw any signs this would happen. When someones dog bites someone the owners typically don't want to claim to have prior knowledge.If some owners aren't complying with the restrictions, then deal with those owners. Don't take away everyone's dog. Just because some drinkers drive drunk doesn't mean that prohibition is the answer.

At tonight's Committe Mtg June 9, 2009 - Jackie Thompson brought forth her proposal to submit legislation to ban ALL pit bulls from the city of Whitehall....AGAIN! Jackie said that it is not safe for women to walk the streets and for children to play (I guess pit bulls do not attack men). She still has to submit it to Attorney Mike Shannon to have the where to-where as-hence forth-and a knick knack paddy whack- added to her proposal before it can become legislation so she can submit it at the next Committee Meeting. Oddly enough, The Columbus Dispatch and the Whitehall News were represented at the meeting.....coincidence...or no???? Leslie LaCorte was "shocked as her mouth dropped open" by Jackie's announcement, but thinks QUOTE "it's a good ideal". Leslie went on to say that she thinks there should be the suspension of argument and everyone should just vote. Jackie and Leslie both agree that current legislation is not working. Jackie went on to cite a pit bull attack that occurred in Columbus where after the dog attacked this man's child, the man whipped the dog and beat it with a baseball bat. Leslie recoiled at the thought...but wait...it was last Committee Meeting May 26, 2009 that Leslie commented that her brother carries a bat and "if a pit bull attacks him...he's just going to kill it". Jackie said that her proposed legislation is drafted from Bexley's ban.
If that's not enough...on to the discussion of the Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (to pay overtime to Whitehall Police Officers as they monitor and enforce speeding violations. As explained by Mr. Howard, Mr. Graham, Mr. Knoblauch, Mr. Rodriguez, Mr. Bailey, Mr. Kantor AND Mayor Wolfe numerous times, this is FREE money to the city just for the taking to provide additional funds for our officers to work overtime "only" (at their free will) to monitor and enforce speed limits. Also in this is the "PERK" of having the officers seen on the streets which will deter crime. Leslie wants more bang for her buck.....she wants to pay straight time not overtime (the grant specifies overtime) and is just not sure it's the right thing to do. Jackie wants the grant money (which specifies officer overtime pay) to go towards a "study" of how to stop speeders. Here's an idea...MAYBE JACKIE SHOULD WRITE LEGISLATION TO BAN ALL SPEEDERS FROM WHITEHALL!!!!!!!!!!!!! That makes just as much sense as her other attempts at legislation.

COME ONE COME ALL TO ALL COMMITTEE AND COUNCIL MEETINGS and see the circus that is Jackie Thompson working her own personal agendas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These meetings last so long with Jackie speaking out of turn and forgetting to ask her questions at the appropriate times...you may just want to bring some crackerjacks and soda pop.

For the new readers, I am re-posting my MISSION STATEMENT which as you scroll down, you will see that it was my very first entry and the most important part of this blog.
-My Mission Statement is to alert all citizens of Whitehall, OH to the ridiculous and outrageous behavior of Council member Jackie Thompson at council meetings. Her behavior as an elected official is an embarrassment to our city. We as citizens need to voice our opinion and hold her to the high standards that she demands of all of the other elected officials.-

Now……on to 2008 dog license registration- in 2008
Jackie had 5 dogs registered in her name:

1) Sampson
2) Maxie
3) Tazzy
4) Brubaker
5) Mattie

At one point, she gave one of the dogs away to a city employee who renamed it….leaving her with 4 dogs….exhibiting that at any give time in 2008 and 2009, Jackie has been in violation of –

Ordinance 505.13 MAXIMUM NUMBER OF DOGS PERMITTED:
(a) No person shall keep or harbor more than three dogs, excluding puppies less than four months old, in any single family dwelling, or in any separate suite in a two-family dwelling or apartment dwelling, within this City. The terms "dwelling" and "suite", as used in this section, include the parcel of land upon which the building containing the dwelling or suite is located, and also all out-buildings located on that parcel of land. (b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.(Ord. 47-84. Passed 6-5-84.)

Question: Does Jackie have NO (zero, zip, nada, zilch) regard what so ever for a law if it is one that she finds inconvenient?

At Committee Meeting of May 26, 2009 – Jackie was back on her pit bull rant. She grilled Mr. Ogden and Mr. Shannon on whether or not the owners of the pit bulls are “in compliance with the law” of fencing, registration and leashing. SERIOUSLY??!! Also, a sore spot for Jackie is that the owners are allowed 3 (THREE, TRES, TROIS, DREI) pit bulls.
So….let me see if I get this right….Jackie... –are you okay with people having 4, 5 or possibly more dogs at any given time even if it violates -

Please, as you all read, there is a "noise" that continues to blog and attack several of us in a childish manner. I am removing all posts regarding this "noise" including my own. Please do not take offense, it is solely to cut out the "noise". I will continue to remove the "noise" blogs as they appear. If any of you see the posts, we really do need to "stay on point" as one member said, and keep this "noise" silenced. We can collectively do this by not responding AT ALL. Simply do as I do, throw your head back and laugh at the childish rhetoric expelled by this noise. 2008 year in review part one-- the first 6 months of Jackie's term in office

Historical Data- Synopsis of 2008 Meetings- 1st half year
1/2/08 Jackie was upset she was not allowed to vote at the end of 2007. She wasn’t sworn in yet!
Also, she went on to tell Council & City what ALL they are doing wrong and how she will fix it- from a short budget, to HER projection of 2-3mil surplus from taxes, to trash pick up payments, to crime, to lack of neighborhood standards not being set or met…(that’s standards of the “look” of the city. This includes house upkeep which includes, yes painting your house when it needs it), to passing SMARTER legislation.
I’m sure each of us has worked at a job for several years and a new hire comes in to tell us what the company is doing wrong the very first day they start. Way to be a TEAM MEMBER JACKIE!
2/8/08 I personally went to speak at Council to tell Jackie again of the havoc she has caused me through the years due to her rantings and that they are geared up again as she has now a part of council. I left after my comments and she said that if anyone knows where I live---COME ON JACKIE!!---Or if anyone knows me---SERIOUSLY??!!---Mr. Rodriguez pointed out that I left my address as it must be given prior to speaking, and she answered with “Okay, I’ll send her a note then”. Nope, nada, zilch, zip on the note. Wouldn’t undo what she has caused…but it is interesting how her memory conveniently fades to suit her.
Moving on to the same meeting..Poll Council…. Jackie goes on to berate President Howard for going against a “Participatory Legislation” by selecting and asking 5 people if they would be willing to serve on the Charter Review Committee, then created the Legislation TO BE VOTED ON (get it?? Not a done deal, Jackie) by Council. President Howard responded that he did as former Council President Ochsendorf had done when she brought names forward. He was following her decorum. It was also brought up that JACKIE had sent an e-mail to the Council members asking what they thought of President Howard’s actions in this matter. Councilman Rodriquez brought forward his concerns with violating the Sunshine Law. She then whips out quotes page numbers etc. and demands an apology. Well, the part she read is correct, but she ALSO FAILED to read the portion of the OPEN MEETINGS ACT that states that a Public Body i.e. Council, must conduct ALL business in Open Meetings…thus her excuse of impromptu e-mail (as IF!) should be clear definition that she did NOT violate any rules. Well…. Jackie …once again, YOU had YOUR agenda and twisted the words conveniently to your favor, when if fact – had the ENTIRE Act been read…it so states that any part of a PUBLIC BODY should NEVER conduct any business EXCEPT in OPEN MEETINGS!!!
THEN……… Jackie asks for a “handbook” so she doesn’t make any errors. LOL! Funny!!! Quotes coming out of thin air from any publication one could think of when she chooses to make a point…but then if it’s thrown back her way….she claims ignorance. Seriously??!!
3/4/08 Jackie brought up her legislation banning PIT BULLS from Whitehall, passes out 2 drafts. She also stated that she got the feeling that the people have already made up their minds against the ban and how sad that would be. From the minutes below of the next few months, clearly she wasn’t the least bit interested that the people already told her they were against it!!!
3/11/08 Committee Meeting- The minutes on this meeting seem to go on forever. The minutes are 36 pages long! 4 or 5 pages would normally be considered a long meeting…but 36! And the main topic…you guessed it…. Jackie’s pit bull legislation. She wrote 2 drafts, a short version and a long version, although if you read through the minutes it’s hard to differentiate which is which. Jackie was not willing to alter her drafts to reference “vicious” dogs. No. It HAD to “say” pit bulls. Council Members Bailey, Graham and Rodriguez all tried reasoning with her and explained that Chihuahuas as well as Great Danes can be vicious in attack depending on where the bite is in relation to their jaw lock. No. Didn’t work. She wouldn’t listen, she wouldn’t hear, she wouldn’t budge! This is where she also speaks of the people who have the pit bulls as “certain types of owners”. I also have 4 sources who confirmed that one particular pit bull owner that Jackie spoke of, Jackie said that she checked out the dog owner on the internet to look for a criminal record. So – Jackie feels it her right and responsibility to “look up” any one who disagrees with her? THIS is how she’s using the POLITICAL OFFICE!
THIS IS WHAT THIS BLOG IS ABOUT!!! The continued MISUSE of office for her own gain!
3/18/08 31 people came to speak to Council regarding the Jackie proposed ban on pit bulls. 24 spoke against her ban, 7 in favor. The first speaker was Janiece Miller….yes…the woman who just (2009) lost her job at the hands of Jackie.
4/1/08 8 people came to speak to Council regarding the Jackie proposed ban on pit bulls. 7 spoke against her ban, 1 in favor.
4/15/08 2 people came to speak to Council regarding the Jackie proposed ban on pit bulls. 1 spoke against her ban, 1 in favor.
5/6/08 6 people came to speak to Council regarding the Jackie proposed ban on pit bulls. 3 spoke against her ban, 2 in favor and 1 just is sick and tired of hearing about it. Jackie went on to comment on a pit bull attack “that someone saw” and she did not, but she was interjecting her views of how the event transpired. This is her method of operation. Twist the facts to suit her agenda and to heck with the citizens of Whitehall.
5/20/08 A citizen came to speak on the behalf of her boyfriend who is the dog owner that Jackie did a “search” on. She said that heard Jackie say that he was on probation…but he was not sentenced to probation until 3 days later! She also stated that they are in compliance with all laws regarding her dogs including shots, registration, fencing and leashes. Janiece Miller also spoke about Jackie’s unprofessional behavior. Janiece also commented on how wrong it is that Jackie continues to drag a resident through the mud
Onto Jackie’s response- first she attacks “the men on council” for being poised to defeat her legislation. Then she went on to accuse “certain council members” of acting like mean school girls saying they spread vicious rumors about her. She accused Mr. Rodriguez of starting a rumor that if her legislation passed, she would gather up all of the pit bulls in the city and destroy them. He responded stating that he was the one who told HER about the rumor. Then she attacked Mayor Wolfe for cronyism. Back to Mr. Rodriguez and additionally Mr. Bailey. She accused them both of public pandering.
6/3/08 Jackie’s pit bull ban failed. Alas, Jackie went on in POLL COUNCIL to liken these days to post World War II when she was growing up. To the assassinations of Jack, Martin and Bobby. Then she commented on cable tv and how just watching it shows how pits are bred. …kind of a mis-mush of things going on in Jackieville....eh?

At May 12 Committee Meeting, Council person Leslie LaCorte expressed (quite vehemently I might say) her disapproval of my video taping council meetings. She feels she is "put in the middle of something that she should not be in". Well Leslie, are you aware that the City of Columbus Council Meetings are ALL broadcast on public television? Get used to it. I am a citizen of Whitehall and a journalist and I am not going away. I will be at each and every meeting. I have every right to be there and every right to video.

Dudley, Dudley...where are you? Pity Party for Jackie-Councilperson Jackie Thompson has now gone so far to say that she is innocent of any wrong doing in bringing ridicule to our city. She states in her Letter to the Editor in the Whitehall News April 16, 2009, that “the Mayor and the men of council" are causing the ridicule...not her. Her pit bull lobby was shut down. Her "suggestion" of restructuring the locale of the Nativity scene was shut down. She passed out pamphlets from her own place of worship to Council Members at a meeting. She insisted on a Resolution being written for 2 specific scientists. Council shut her down on that one too and wrote a Resolution for Science DAY not specific scientists...but inclusive of ALL scientists.Citizen Teri Ranke gave a clear and concise "year in review" of Jackie Thompson’s antics over the past year in an April 9, 2009 Letter to the Editor in the Whitehall News. Sadly, Jackie Thompson sees herself as a damsel in distress at the hands of the “the Mayor and the men on council”. Seriously??!!

Notes from April 7, 2009 Council Meeting

The agenda began with- Call to Order, Moment of Silence, Pledge of Allegiance, Roll Call---- enter first outburst-

*Councilperson Jackie Thompson demanded immediate resignation of Councilperson Wes Kantor (he has a legal issue with a pending trial date) and mid-sentence was silenced by Council President Brent Howard by a fierce pounding of the gavel.
*At the first Poll Public, citizen Paul Weurther stood and ( paraphrase) demanded Councilperson Jackie Thompson’s immediate resignation from council for continually being out of decorum and for trying to deny Councilperson Wes Kantor a fair trial.
*At the second Poll Public, citizen Tim Harrison stood and (paraphrase) expressed his concern that Councilperson Jackie Thompson is ignoring the rights of Americans to a fair trial. He cited the congressman from Alaska who lost his entire political career after being falsely accused and dragged through the dirt by the press. When he was finally found to be not guilty, his career was ruined.
*At the Poll Council, Councilperson Jackie Thompson went on a ten minute rant beginning with a berating of the two gentlemen who chided her for her lack of professionalism and bad behavior. She once again started on Councilperson Wes Kantor but was cautioned by Council President Brent Howard not to cross legal lines. She abruptly switched gears to the NRA stating that in her opinion, the NRA is to cause for all of the gun violence and went as far as to compare body count of gun violence in the United States as to that of the war in Iraq. She produced several newspaper articles of gun violence and THEN in a very awkward moment of time for all in the room (it felt like it lasted 4 hours), she turned the Council Chambers into a 60’s style beat-nik coffee shop so she could use her “artistic” abilities to read her “poem” about the NRA losing its credibility. She added that “in front” of a council guest, a citizen had the nerve to call her out about ‘pit bulls, guns and God’. She stated that people stop her on the street and “beg” her for help. Seriously??!!

Notes from March 24, 2009 Committees’ Meeting

Reading the interruptions by Councilperson Jackie Thompson will show that she considers Council and Committee Meetings are for her personal platforms and disposal and has no intention of following the decorum of an agenda.

NOTE: The agenda notes were- readings of draft legislations and standing committee readings. NOT Poll Council.

Interruptions by Councilperson Jackie Thompson-

*Council President Brent Howard was speaking, and Jackie Thompson interrupts him to ask if he knows if Councilperson Leslie LaCorte is coming to the meeting or not.
*Meeting in progress, she interrupts speaker to ask Mayor John Wolfe if he knew whether or not Whitehall would be sending anyone out to senior citizens homes to hook up their conversion boxes for the digital switch in June. She suggested that Whitehall send the Community Affairs Coordinator Zack Woodruff door to door to supply said service. Seriously??!!
* Meeting in progress, she interrupts speaker to ask City Attorney Mike Shannon what he has found out about a task force against domestic violence.
* Meeting in progress, she interrupts speaker to ask City Attorney Mike Shannon what he has found out about a list of Pit Bull owners.
* Meeting in progress, she interrupts speaker to state that there will be a domestic violence seminar “here” and thinks that Whitehall should send representatives. City Attorney Mike Shannon said the seminar is not “here” meaning we are the City of Whitehall, but it is in the City of Columbus and he is already registered.
* Meeting in progress, she interrupts speaker to ask Mayor John Wolfe if something is going to be done about the dumpsters at the park. She thinks they’re ugly.
* Meeting in progress, she interrupts speaker to say that she wants to back Councilperson Leslie LaCorte in having things for kids to do at the parks. Councilperson Leo Knoblauch mentioned that it just has to be asked and presented by Parks and Recreation.

I took notes through out this meeting and noted when she choose to interject her own personal agenda. None of her questions pertained to the topics being presented.

My "history" with Jackie Thompson began some 20+ years ago when I moved into my home here in Whitehall. I am listed in the telephone directory as cjthompson. Jackie Thompson for years remained (off and on) unlisted. We both reside on the same street. I remember reading letters to the editor in the Whitehall News from her and about her in a battle with her neighbors about a tarp they had covering their fire wood pile. She disliked the look of it and was demanding it be removed. The city stated it was with-in the home owner's rights to have the tarp covering their wood. This went on for weeks. I remember wondering at that time, just what kind of a neighborhood I had moved into that had such a busy body. My daughter was in kindergarten at the time, and I came home from work one day and checked my mail. I had an anonymous letter in my mailbox. I opened it and it was addressed to Jackie Thompson. It was a threatening letter. I called the Whitehall Police, filed a report and turned the letter over to them. I pulled my little girl in from play and for several weeks would not let her play in her own yard, fearing for her safety. I contacted the Whitehall News and asked that it be stated that I was CJThompson - the J for Jo and I was NOT to be confused with Jackie Thompson. They ran an article titled The Tale of Two Thompsons. Not once, did Jackie contact me via phone or written word to apologize for the mishap. Through the years, I have had oh too numerous annoying phone calls for her and always stated simply that they had the wrong number and that I was Cheryl JO Thompson. I made my dislike of her actions and words very clear when she attempted to run for offices. Now that she has made it to city council, I continually have massive phone calls for her. I went to a Council Meeting and voiced my disgust in public. At long last, her telephone number was available as it was put in the minutes of that particular meeting. I have become so very tired of hearing the various discord that should be directed to her, that I've added her name and phone number to my home answering machine. Now, I let the calls roll and people are directed to her number instead of disturbing me. What do I hope to gain from this blog? Utopia would be for Jackie Thompson to do the right thing and step down from council. I know she will never do that. So - my intent is to attend as many meetings as I can, and be a sentinel for the city of Whitehall. I intend to post her rants and remarks so that any of the citizens of this great city who are unable to attend the meetings, will know that Jackie Thompson is following Jackie Thompson's agenda and not the agenda of the city of Whitehall.

My Mission Statement is to alert all citizens of Whitehall, OH to the ridiculous and outrageous behavior of Council member Jackie Thompson at council meetings. Her behavior as an elected official is an embarrassment to our city. We as citizens need to voice our opinion and hold her to the high standards that she demands of all of the other elected officials.
